Construction is progressing on 735 Ninth Avenue, an eight-story residential building in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan. Designed by Bojidar Kadiev and developed by Joseph Galvano under the 735-739 Ninth Avenue Realty Corp., the structure will yield 12 units and ground-floor commercial space for a restaurant and retail tenant. Xenon Construction Group is the general contractor for the Midtown property, which is located near the corner of Ninth Avenue and West 50th Street.

Recent photos show the steel-framed superstructure topped out and framing work taking shape in preparation for the installation of the windows and brick façade. The majority of the main northern elevation with frontage on West 50th Street is covered in yellow and blue insulation boards behind a mesh of scaffolding and netting.

From Ninth Avenue, we can spot the stack of balconies and light-colored envelope on the eastern elevation.

The main rendering depicts the slender northern elevation clad in bright red brick, with floor-to-ceiling glass at the base for the retail frontage and two rows of windows per level from floors two through six. The volume pushes back at the seventh story for the upper two units, which will each occupy an entire floor and come with private terrace space. A communal rooftop deck is planned to cap the structure.

The nearest subways are the C and E trains at the 50th Street station to the east along Eighth Avenue.

A completion date for 735 Ninth Avenue has yet to be announced, though sometime before the end of the year is possible.

  1. Why a 9th Avenue address if there’s strictly W 50th Street frontage?

    • The development apparantly purchased the 2-story buikding facing Ninth and are incorporating it into the project. Otherwise they wouldn’t have bothered rendering in the added detail that is the rooftop of the 2-story building.
