Rosario, 24, was walking with his girlfriend when he approached three men on W. 42nd St. near Ninth Ave. and asked for a cigarette just before 11:10 p.m., police said.

An argument broke out before Wright, 35, stabbed Rosario in the torso. Medics rushed him to Bellevue Hospital, but he could not be saved.

Rosario lived in Brownsville, Brooklyn, cops said.

Wright has just one prior arrest in the city.

On Aug. 24, he was busted in Harlem after he pulled out a knife and told a man, “I’m gonna stab you,” police said.

The victim was not injured and Wright was arrested and charged with menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.

His arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court in the slaying was pending Wednesday afternoon.
