MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A subway train hit a Citi Bike that had been left on the tracks at a Midtown station Friday afternoon, causing a loud noise and filling the station with smoke, according to the MTA and reports.

The uptown 6 train hit the bicycle at the 51st Street-Lexington Avenue station around 12:45 p.m., according to an MTA spokesperson.

The collision caused a loud noise and sparked a fire on the tracks, according to the MTA and an FDNY spokesperson. Video posted by NBC New York meteorologist Matt Brickman showed the station filling with smoke as passengers ran off the train.
