Texas tourist held in headlock, mugged at knifepoint in NYC: cops

A Texas tourist was held in a headlock in Midtown Manhattan Sunday morning as she and her Brooklyn cousin were robbed at knife-point, cops said.

The two women were outside West 45th Street and 11th Avenue around 12:30 a.m. when two males approached them and demanded their property, they told The Post later on Sunday.

“It was dark. We were looking for a bathroom,” said tourist Aakriti Bagchi, 20, a student at the University of Wisconsin who was visiting her kin.

Bagchi and cousin Kundun Kamalakar, 25, were having a night out and were heading to La Cantina when they were robbed, she said.

“We are two women. We don’t look intimidating,” Bagchi said in a phone interview. “We were walking toward the Intrepid when we were approached by two men. One had a knife and he put me in a headlock and asked for my wallet.”

She said the cowardly crooks made off with their bags with credit and debit cards, her cell phone – and a measly $2 in cash.

One of the robbers was described as a Hispanic male wearing a black hat, black jacket with a white shirt and black pants, police said.

Cops had no description of the second male suspect.

The purse was found empty.

Neither victim was injured.

Bagchi, who lived in New York City in the past, said the incident left her and her cousin a bit shaken, but she took it all in stride.

“I lived here for four years,” she said. “I still feel safe but I won’t put myself in that situation again. Next time I’ll Uber when I have to use the bathroom. It’s a cautionary tale.”
